David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (Elephant Orphanage)

Located inside Nairobi National Park, this world-renowned center is dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of orphaned baby elephants and rhinos.

  • Arrive just before 11:00 AM, the only public visiting hour of the day
  • Watch the baby elephants being bottle-fed and playing in the mud
  • Learn the personal rescue stories of each elephant from the caretakers
  • Discover how the orphans are gradually reintroduced into the wild
  • You may optionally adopt an elephant (for a small donation) and receive updates on its progress

A deeply moving experience that highlights Kenya’s commitment to wildlife conservation.

Giraffe Centre

After your visit to the orphanage, continue to the Giraffe Centre in the leafy suburb of Karen, about 30 minutes away.

  • Home to the endangered Rothschild’s giraffe, this education and breeding center lets you get up close to the tallest land mammals
  • Feed giraffes from a raised platform and even get a giraffe “kiss” (if you're brave!)
  • Explore the Gogo River nature trail for a short forest walk
  • Learn about giraffe conservation efforts and the work of the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife (AFEW)

Drop-Off: After your visit, your driver will take you back to your hotel, residence, or to the airport for your onward journey.
