Trip Overview

Combine the expansive wilderness of Tsavo East National Park with the intimate wildlife-viewing experience of Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary on this three-day safari from the Kenya coast.

Spend the first part of the journey exploring Tsavo East’s red-earth plains, seasonal rivers and popular wildlife areas. Continue to the privately managed Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary, where green hills, woodland, waterholes and salt licks attract elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, lions and numerous antelope species.

The route begins at participating Mombasa, Diani or Bamburi beach hotels and includes transportation in a customized safari vehicle, park fees, game drives, meals and drinking water.

Day 01 :

Mombasa or Diani – Tsavo East National Park

Meals: Lunch and dinner

Your driver-guide will collect you from your participating Mombasa, Diani or Bamburi beach hotel early in the morning.

Depart the coast and travel to Tsavo East National Park. Enter the park and begin your first game drive across the open savannah.

Search for red-dust elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, impalas, waterbucks, warthogs, ostriches and predators such as lions and cheetahs.

Visit productive wildlife areas such as Aruba Dam, the Voi River or nearby plains, depending on recent sightings.

Stop for lunch and check in at your selected lodge or camp. Later, return to the park for an afternoon game drive before heading back to your accommodation.

Dinner and overnight in or near Tsavo East National Park.

Day 02 :

Tsavo East – Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary

Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner

Begin the day with an early morning game drive when wildlife is active and temperatures are cooler.

Return to your lodge or camp for breakfast. Check out and continue with another game drive toward the Tsavo East exit.

Travel to Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary and arrive around lunchtime. Check in at your lodge and enjoy lunch before the afternoon safari.

Explore the sanctuary’s rolling hills, woodland, open grassland and waterholes. Look for elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards, giraffes, zebras, impalas, gazelles and dik-diks.

Visit the lodge’s waterhole-viewing areas or underground bunker, where animals may be observed at close but safe range.

Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 03 :

Taita Hills – Mombasa or Diani

Meals: Breakfast and lunch

Rise early for a pre-breakfast game drive through Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary.

Enjoy the soft morning light while searching for wildlife emerging from the bush or gathering around water sources.

Return to your lodge for breakfast and check out. Continue with a final game-viewing drive before leaving the sanctuary.

Travel toward the Kenya coast and stop for lunch along the way.

Arrive at your Mombasa, Diani, Bamburi or participating beach hotel in the late afternoon.
