5 Days Samburu National Reserve & Ol Pejeta Conservancy Safari

Your safari adventure begins with an early morning pick up from your Nairobi hotel or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, followed by a scenic drive north towards Samburu Game Reserve. The journey takes you through the lush central highlands of Kenya, passing local villages, coffee and tea plantations, as well as the famous Equator crossing point near Nanyuki.

Arrive at Samburu in time for lunch and check in at Samburu Sopa Lodge, beautifully located on elevated grounds overlooking the vast Samburu landscape and surrounding hills.

After lunch and relaxation, proceed for an afternoon game drive in Samburu Game Reserve. Samburu is one of Kenya’s most unique wildlife destinations, known for its rugged semi-arid landscapes and rare northern species referred to as the Samburu Special Five, which include the Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, gerenuk, and Beisa oryx.

The reserve is also home to elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs, crocodiles, and abundant birdlife along the Ewaso Nyiro River.

Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and an overnight stay.

Enjoy an early breakfast before departing for a morning game drive when wildlife is most active. Explore different sections of the reserve following animal tracks along the Ewaso Nyiro River, where elephants, buffalo, and predators are often spotted.

Return to the lodge for relaxation and lunch.

In the afternoon, head out for another exciting game drive across the reserve’s dramatic landscapes, searching for more wildlife and enjoying breathtaking sunset views over the Samburu wilderness.

After breakfast, check out and depart for Ol Pejeta Conservancy, located within the Laikipia region near Mount Kenya. The drive offers scenic views of rolling plains, farmlands, and beautiful countryside landscapes.

Arrive at Comfort Gardens Sweetwaters in time for lunch and check in.

In the afternoon, proceed for a game drive in Ol Pejeta Conservancy, one of Kenya’s leading private conservancies, famous for rhino conservation and Big Five wildlife viewing. The conservancy is home to the endangered black and white rhinos as well as the last two remaining northern white rhinos in the world.

Ol Pejeta also hosts elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, hyenas, and numerous antelope species within its beautiful open plains and acacia woodlands.

After the game drive, return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

After breakfast, depart for a full-day safari experience in Ol Pejeta Conservancy with morning and afternoon game drives.

Explore the vast conservancy in search of wildlife while learning about ongoing conservation programs protecting endangered species. Guests may also enjoy optional visits to the chimpanzee sanctuary, the only place in Kenya offering refuge to rescued chimpanzees.

Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation before continuing with afternoon game viewing.

As the sun sets over Mount Kenya, enjoy the final game drive before heading back to the lodge.

Dinner and overnight stay at Comfort Gardens Sweetwaters.

After breakfast, check out and enjoy a final morning game drive within the conservancy as you exit the park.

Later depart for Nairobi with scenic views along the route, arriving in the afternoon. Upon arrival, transfer to your Nairobi hotel or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward flight.

On the final day of your safari, we can arrange for your transfer to your preferred coastal destination in Kenya, Diani Beach, Malindi, Mombasa, or Watamu via road, train, or domestic flight, depending on your preference and schedule.
